The truth is whenever I wanted to create an artwork, I lack motivation & digital art is exhausting me, as it keeps depleting my energy. Meanwhile I'm comfortable w/ the old-fashion media, so might as well go back to doodling.
My Thoughts on Fandom:
My thoughts on fandom regarding the behaviour & the practices I’ve encountered/observed; I am not against nor pro with it, but I can’t help noticing whenever there is a popular franchise geared towards a specific audience, the outer demograph seems to like it & drew an artwork base on it w/ its personality seems to have been twerked to the point that it has become a fetish. I wonder why?
I have been very conscious about what to draw for a while now, I wanted to create something but too ashamed to share it to everyone because it involves some characteristics originated or taken from an established media or popular culture. Before I would go ahead to make something out of it, a research was done to the point of obsession, hoping to ensure fool-proof with the tendency to end up in vain due to late realisation of using wrong materials & bogus sources. This made me kept it within my sketchbooks & still hesitant to share it to the world; in fear of being judged.
In the past; I 've seen a lot of fan artists in the internet (e.g. Deviantart, Pixiv, 4chan, etc.) & our local comic cons, showcasing their artworks in their own distinctive flair, along with their merchandise (with its usual subject or concept base on existing copyrighted material) at their respective booths. Although, there are those who would copy or traced the original art style. At the same time the coined term "fannon" characters (cannon characters drawn in the artist's own style & acted according to its creator's design) are doing something crazy, with its satire or parody ranging from something mildly like being cute to something more outrageous or borders towards lasciviousness (typically, outside their respective manner, or attitudes that were already marketed towards us; the spectators) & still the these artists get the praise, which later on generates its own fanbase & surprisingly, no reaction coming from the original creator, nor controversy was ever reported.
Not that I am against of it, but is it really acceptable? Then how come there is still this fear of ridicule lingering at my corner? I'll never understand fandom & most of my fan arts are trying to be safe, by without being explicit. Sorry for the wrong rant, I've wanted to let out the pressure built within me.
Back to Traditional Art:
As it appears that getting a Photoshop software is extremely slow, I might as well have to resort to using traditional art. That way, I can practice w/ my hands.
